Tabu/Tabu, 2012

Tabu/Tabu, 2012

Portugal, Germany, Brazil, France, and Spain.

What does the former film critic and now director have to offer the viewer? A good, melancholic black and white art film. The film is logically divided into two parts. The first tells the story of our days, where two neighbors live. The eccentric Donna Aurora, abandoned by her daughter, lives with her maid, Santa. The lonely Donna Pilar The last thing Aurora asks before she dies is to find a certain man. Then the story takes the viewer into the second part of the film.

This story already takes us back half a century: the young Donna Aurora lives in Africa. She is beautiful and cheerful, her hobby is hunting; she has a good husband; a position in the world; a crocodile; and an estate at the foot of Mount Tabou. But, as you may already guess, taboo is not only a mountain. It is also a taboo that Aurora breaks when she decides to cheat on her husband. The film was awarded the Alfred Bauer Prize and the FIPRESCI Prize at the Berlin Film Festival.

I can prove it. Director Derek Cienfrance always wanted to make a triptych. A film consisting of three related stories. And after working on Valentine’s, which also starred Ryan Gosling, he set about making The Place Beyond Pines. The first chapter introduces a motorcycle racer, Luke, who discovers that he became a father a year ago. Wanting to do the right thing, Luke decides to help his son and his mother. Even though the latter has another man in her life, she is desperate to prove it. So that he is able to support his child and his mother, Luke decides to rob banks.

In the second part, there is a fatal clash between the newly minted thief and the ambitious policeman. Avery is constantly balancing good and evil. And in the final third chapter, the plot unfolds 15 years later—two teenagers become best friends. They are unaware of their shared connection from the past. “A Place Under the Pines” is an atmospheric movie with great acting, noted by film critics as one of the best films of 2012.

A movie that makes you look at Jake Gyllenhaal with entirely different eyes! “Stringer”-a look at what some call journalism, but in reality, it spits on all kinds of ethics, morals, and laws. So, veteran thief Louis Bloom is looking for work, but no one is willing to take him on. But after seeing A traffic accident and journalists coming to cover it, Bloom decides that this is just the kind of case that could bring him a good income. He swaps his bicycle for video equipment for filming and begins his hunt for stories. And believe me, in his quest for profit, he will stop at nothing.
